The Issue: Apple iPhone will now be available in Australia, Czech Republic, Egypt, Greece, Italy, India, Portugal, New Zealand, South Africa, and Turkey. So if you live in one of those nations: Woo Hoo!
The Story: As part of CEO Steve Jobs’ plan to expand iPhone sales outside of the US, Apple (AAPL) and cell phone carrier service super corp Vodafone (VOD) have struck a deal to sell iPhones in the previously mentioned nations. The total population of these nations is greater than 1.4 billion – a win/win for both Apple and Vodafone. This is a big catch for Vodafone, who lost out to Telefonica SA’s O2 and Carphone Warehouse Group PLC for the rights to support the iPhone in England.
Why this matters: iPhones for all Earth inhabitants!
What says the:
Geek: I promise that I shall travel to each Vodafone nation to purchase an iPhone.
Socialite: You mean more people will have iPhones? So like, I’ll be less unique?
Soccer Mom: I will turn this car around if you don’t calm down!
