Rogers Wireless announced that they will bring the iPhone 3G to Canada on July 11th. There are still plenty of details missing regarding how Rogers plans to handle their data plan. However, they they are planning to offer the iPhone 3G for the same price that AT&T is: $199 and $299. The difference is, while AT&T is pushing a 2 year contract for all iPhone 3G customers, Rogers is pushing a 3 year.
This is a rather bold move by Rogers – 3 years isn’t just a contract, that’s a hardcore commitment. The iPhone 3G is an absolutely amazing device, but in 3 years, it will be extremely outdated. I mean c’mon, only a few years back we had this:
