There’s a new rumor circulating in the Apple iPhone realm, and this time it’s bloody red. A red iPhone 3G is rumored to be released in time for the holiday season, just to give the iPhone 3G that extra little boost in sales.
Why red? Two reasons:
- It caught your eye
- Apple is involved with (PRODUCT) RED, a charity which donates money to the Global Fund to Fight AIDS in Africa. Read about it on Apple’s (PRODUCT) RED site.
Although the rumor comes from an unconfirmed source, there are several factors which validate the possibility of a red iPhone 3G.
- Apple is known to release colored products (iPod) in time for the holiday season. Specifically, a red iPod was released last holiday season, and it was also for the (PRODUCT) RED cause.
- Given the new plastic back of the iPhone 3G, it is extremely simple to create a "red" version of the iPhone 3G from a manufacturing standpoint.
- The white iPhone 3G, which originally started out as a rumor, turned out to be as true as can be. And although it only comes in 16GB, the white iPhone 3G has had much success.
So although the news of a red iPhone 3G hasn’t become official just yet, there’s reason to believe it could be true. What do you think?
Update: To dispel rumors of the above screenshot being "photoshopped" or "digitally-altered", below is our actual attempt to photoshop a red iPhone 3G.

Red iPhone 3G? That would be sweet.
Hmmm…could this be photoshopped?
The update is a poor example of Photoshop.
Here is an example how photoshop can change hair color.

BTW the iPhone Logo is shaded red.
