The Orange network has been a real lemon for iPhone users in France.
Disgruntled Orange customers have been wondering why their iPhone 3G speeds (an average of 400Kpbs) pale in comparison to the average 3G speed in countries such as Germany (with an average of 1800Kpbs on the T-Mobile network).
The exclusive iPhone provider in France has come clean, admitting to capping 3G speeds in an attempt to preserve network stability. Tweaking of the APN by some empathetic Orange technicians has allowed
select customers who called into the support line to experience 3G speeds of over 3Mbps.
Hard to believe the two phones in this video are on the same network, but they are; here is an uncapped Orange iPhone and a capped Orange iPhone:
Orange has agreed to raise the cap on 3G to 1Mbps by September 15.

That’s right !
I’m a french owner of iPhone 3G, and Orange, our provider, limit the speed of 3G !
Orange has agreed to raise the cap on 3G to 1Mbps by September 15… Yes BUT, only for the special offer dedicated to the iPhone, not for the others offers (prepaid or others offers accessible with the iPhone)
