Let’s say you have been invited to be a beta tester for a new iPhone application and the developer asks you for your UDID.
You have no idea what UDID is, and if you are smart you are not going to ask the developer about it. (If you do, expect to get kicked out of the beta testing program immediately).
Here’s how you get your UDID:
Note: UDID stands for Unique Device Identifier
1. Connect your iPhone to iTunes and click on your iPhone under devices
2. In the device information screen you can see the following: Name, Capacity, Software Version, Serial Number, Phone Number.
Click on Serial Number, and Identifier will show up.
Try clicking on on other parameter names for things like: IMEI, Build Version, ICCID.
3. OK, you are ready to copy your Identifier (UDID).
Left Mouse Click on the number and hold it, press CTRL-C on your keyboard, and you are done.

I don’t see why asking the developer what a UDID is would cause an issue! Why would general iPhone consumers know what one was. Why would they need to know?
The first I heard about a UDID was when I was invited to test a game, and the developer told me what a UDID was, presuming that I wouldn’t know.
Useful article though.
I was invited to test a game and the developer actually gave me a link to this article!
Thanks, Dave!! Best piece of information I’ve heard all day. Very very useful application.
maybe the article is outdated, but is not working to copy it.
hey, it isn’t CTRL-C , you are thinking of a PC, on a MAC, to copy something, you need to use COMMAND-C, unless you have changed your hot keys… so I tried this and failed until I tried it a few times actually, finally it copied. THANKS FOR INFO!
