After one day: Android Market v. The App Store

How did Android Market fare on its first day,in comparison to The App Store's initial 24 hours?

Some stats to consider after one day of action:
  • Android Market offered 62 Apps, all free–that's 10% less than what The App Store offered (which also included paid Apps)
  • The average Android Market App has 7,800+ downloads (Apple put an embargo on this information 15 hours into The App Store's launch)

  • Nine Android Market Apps made it to the 10,000 – 50,000 range (The App Store just had two)

  • It appears Android users are into the same types of Apps as iPhone users, or Android developers are interested in creating the same types of Apps as iPhone developers

It's difficult to do a direct first-day comparison between the two stores, as Apple withheld information regarding The App Store's launch statistics.  However, when it comes to what users of each platform prefer, it's interesting to note the similarities.
