Awhile back we wrote about Quake4iPhone, Quake port for jailbroken iPhones.
Mobile developer ZodTTD made an announcement that Quake port will be available via App store if approved by Apple.
The last we checked Quake's name/trademark was owned by id Software. Let's see and wait what will develop, in mean time watch the video below.

id regularly releases the source code for older versions of their games, so that people can port them to other platforms. It appears to be released under a GPL license however, so the developer would have to release source for the app to anyone who bought it for their iPhone:
