So much for "taking this call in private."

Mobile Spy, who specialize in monitoring the calling and texting of various smart phones, now brings its George Orwell/1984 business plan to the iPhone:

Mobile Spy is a hybrid software/service which allows you to monitor
your iPhone in real time. This unique system records the activities of
anyone who uses your compatible iPhone. You install a small application onto your phone. It starts at every boot of your phone but remains stealth.

the software is setup on your phone it will record SMS and call
activities and then silently upload the data to your private Mobile Spy
account using the Internet. When you want to view results, simply login
to the Online Control Panel from any computer or phone web browser and
enter your username and password to proceed.

They justify their eavesdropping mission thusly:

This high-tech spy software will allow you to see exactly what they do
while you are away. Are your kids texting while driving or using the
phone in all hours of the night? Are your employees sending company
secrets? Do they erase their phone logs? That won't matter because the
software instantly uploads the data before erasing is possible.

Unless you worship at the alter of G. Gordon Liddy, this kinda smacks of "invasion of privacy," if you ask us.  At the very least, it highlights trust issues — or lack thereof — that go waaaaaay beyond, in essence, bugging an employee's or family member's iPhone.
