iPhones: the final frontier…
As if you Trekkies didn't spend enough galactic credits on the re-imagined STAR TREK movie (over US$72 million in its opening weekend), Electronic Arts would like to transport another three bucks out of your wallets.
Star Trek: The Mobile Game puts your iPhone or iPod Touch behind the wheel — or should we say, "on the bridge" — of the starship ENTERPRISE to, as per EA's hype, "carry out missions to uphold your intergalactic obligation to seek and destroy your enemies." Navigation is accomplished through the accelerometer, the virtual joystick, or touching the screen (the latter is also used to phaser and torpedo "enemy wessels," to borrow a maloprop from Ensign Chekhov).
Unlike the movie, which has gotten extremely positive reviews, the app's reviews are a mixed bag: some users love it, others complain about crashes, long load times, and tiny onscreen fonts. A common complaint is "It's like Galaga, only not as much fun."
So it's your command decision as to whether you want to go where no man has…aaah, you know the rest.
