30 Second Universal Jailbreak Using BlackRa1n Tutorial: Unlockers Beaware (Tool from GeoHot)
If you’ve never jailbroken your phone, just follow the guides above. Don’t forget to check out our glossary it may help you to understand the terminology.
Follow the check list below if you already have your iPhone jailbroken:
1. If you have Cycorder installed make sure to copy all of the videos from your iPhone to your computer.
Videos are located on your iphone under mobile user in /mobile/Media/Videos.
2. Check /mobile/library/downloads directory for files you’d like to save.
3. Use AppBackup to backup setting for your applications, just in case.
After back-up, copy /mobile/library/AppBackup folder to your computer.
4. Use AptBackup to save the list of installed Cydia Apps. Make sure to sync with iTunes after back-up (back-up is stored in iTunes).
5. If you use Categories there is no way to recover your settings (let us know if you know a method).
6. Sync your iPhone with iTunes for the last time.
7. Use one of our jailbreak guides (see list above).
8. After jailbreaking, use iTunes Restore to copy files back to your iPhone.
9. Go to Cydia and install AptBackup, restore your Cydia Applications.
10. Copy all of the folders/files from steps 1,2,3 back to your iPhone.
NOTE:
- If you use Categories, you will have to rebuild them.
- Also, all of your application icons will have a slightly different arrangement on your springboard.

General Settings:
Unchecked “Activate the phone”
Checked “Enable Baseband” (defaulted)
BootNeuter:
This was grayed out for me…Defaults where:
Unchecked “Neuter Bootloader”
Unchecked “Update Bootloader”
->selected Update 4.6
Selected Unlock baseband
Unchecked “Auto delete BootNeuter.app”
Added a few packages and then Built.
Do itunes restore using custom ipsw and you’re good to go!

I have downloaded the tool and firmware and have had no issues at all and I Tunes is working. My phone was jail broken before but i put Apple OS 3 on yesterday and then jail broke it today. Not sure if that matters but all is working.
I am finding Cydia a bit slow but apart from that perfect
Oh and my YouTube is working great with no problems
i downloaded a windows version and the correct firmware ( or so i thought) but when i got to jailbreaking with the firmware, i got the firmware error message, although at the bottom of the quickpwn app it says compatible with version 7a259g but i had already restore iphone with version 7a341 and was using this as the firmware for breaking hence the error message i think, i downloaded 7a259g and tried jailbreaking with that instead but it wont let me get past the recovery mode screen all it says is preparing iphone for recovery mode, iphone doesnt change at all i still have full functionality, any ideas?

Just to report back. It looks like Cydia is not working right on my device. It installs some apps and i get an icon and sometimes it does not. On the ones that do install an icon when you select to open the app it just shuts down again.

my iphone 3g screen will turn white, then black, and the process will say , done! but nothing is installed. no cydia, no pineapple screen or jailbreaking info. anybody can help?
I was having the same issue and after a few firmware restores I have finally having working the way it should. The problem is not really with Cydia. It turns out every time I restored my iPhone from the iTunes backup all the Cydia apps stopped working. What I did was I backed up all my apps, contacts, music, etc.. manually. After my final jailbreak I set the phone as a new iPhone under iTunes. I did use my iTunes backup. Something else that seemed to help was to update Cydia immediately after a jailbreak before installing any Cydia apps. Hope this helps.

I have an iPhone 3G w/3.0. So far, I’ve downloaded (or have attempted) to d/l every imaginable file need to complete the jailbreak process. My issue is the ipsw file at this point. I have Windows and when I click the download link that shows as
iPhone1,2_3.0_7A341_Restore.ipsw, the file shows on my computer as iPhone1,2_3.0_7A341_Restore and there’s no .ipsw file to be found. In attempting to download Pwnage, the file shows as a .dmg file and I can’t do anything with it. Clearly i’m new to this process and the issue is probably n00b related. Can someone provide some guidance?

But to answer your other question. in order to file extention to show you need to configure windows to show file extensions. The reason you cannot open dmg file becasue in’s an archive type format file for mac – pwnagetool is mac only. good luck

I installed cydia but not icy using redsnow, it worked ok for about 10 mins but then it started crashing. It would be right in the middle of downloading something then it would go to the apple logo screen. It did this about 5 times within the first 3 hours of having it jailbroken. Then when I woke up the following morning and cydia did not open. I turned it off and on and it didn’t work and I also reset it and it didn’t work. What should I do?

hello. I tried jailbreak the iphone and the phone works great, software install with cydia was ok. problem was trying to put any .ipa apps to the iphone where itunes display an error not sure why and do not install anything besides cydia and apple apps. any clues? I used redsnow
Hi, the Pwnage Tool 3.0 stops when building IPSW and up comes the message on the MAC that the Tool has unexpectally quit. I’ve tryed several times, but the same thing happens every time. Can you help me with this?

I did the jailbreak on my phone and it was successful, then did the unlock on it and it seemed to work too with no problem. I then put my t-mobile sim card and nothing. I have reset it and have done this process several different times, even trying purplesn0w as a last result and nothing. I was able to use my friends prepaid AT&T card but not my tmobile, any suggestions?
