Looks like YouTube got the boot by the iPhone Dev Team in the jailbroken version of the new iPhone OS 3.0. Due to the new features in YouTube (sign in, rate, comment, etc…), Apple has redesigned the YouTube application for the iPhone. Somewhere in that redesign, a change occurred which led to the application being disfunctional in the jailbroken version of the 3.0 firmware. see more after the fold.
The iPhone Dev Team will probably release an updated version in the future which leaves YouTube intact, but for now, you've gotta choose: Cydia or YouTube?

3.0 Gold Master, Pwnage Tool, and have Cydia and YouTube working fine.
Youtube player working just fine with latest from the dev-team

Problem ain’t with jailbreak but with activation I believe.
Same here. Maybe it depends on whether you’ve logged in and used it before the jailbreak.
Either way, I’m using MxTube, that app kicks ass!

Some users report if you do not have working youtube, go to safari type youtube.com youtube site will load. Then go back to youtube app and it will work.

Logging in to my youtube account does nothing for me either in mobile safari or the youtube app. Hoping there will be a fix but I am way to happy with all the new 3.0 features to really care.

If fixed my YouTube.
1. Backup phone in itunes
2. Restore in iTunes (shift + restore)Ensure you download 3.0 firmware. Use the one you downloaded for redsn0w.
3. Jailbeak using redsn0w
4. Unlock with ultrasn0w. That should fix it.
5. Restore backup in itunes
I solved the Youtube app not signing in problem by removing symbols from my password. Hope it helps!
I tried YouTube/mobile in safari and loaded a video. Then after that the YouTube app worked. The apps that use YouTube vids still don’t work. But hey, you can’t have it all. Glad the YouTube app works.

- Plug in your iPhone/iPod Touch
- Open iTunes
- Go into the iTunes store
- Go to the App Store Tab

my iPhone 3G with the latest software update is jailbroken and unlocked with blacksnow, has cydia installed and whenever I try to open the youtube app it says cannot connect, and in safari I can open the youtube.com site but can not view any videos.
Yeah didn’t work for me either. However whizkid515 is on to something. Download Mxtube from cydia and that lets you watch youtube

Hi, Can anyone help as I’ve been searching for hours. I dont have an YouTube app and I cant find the standard app anywhere. If I open you tube via safari it wont play the movies.
