Today our featured iPhone app reviews include Remember The Milk (updated version), Writie Talkie, Countdowns, and Freakish Hybrid Animals. Remember The Milk is a very popular and highly downloaded iPhone productivity application, but it got a big update on June 27th. Writie Talkie takes advantage of the iPhone's new P2P connectivity to allow you to do some neat chatting. Countdowns is just what you'd imagine, and Freakish Hybrid Animals might seem like a stupid app, but trust me, this one will result in crowds of people huddled around your iPhone at parties.

Writie Talkie is quite a clever iPhone app. While I agree that the design of this app isn't very appealing, its function is pretty awesome. Writie Talkie is a combo of walkie-talkie and a local wireless text messenger. It takes advantage of the peer-to-peer connection via Bluetooth to allow you and someone else to do wireless voice chat and text message.
Here's the point of this app.
Let's say you're in a classroom or library (anywhere that you can't speak on the phone) but you are in the midst of a conversation. Now let's say the person you're talking to does not want to text message. With this app, they can continue talking to you (just plug in your headphones so you can hear them.) But now, you can text them back – all from one place on your phone. It's simple: They talk, you text. Or vice versa.
The only thing is, both people have to be connected to the same WiFi network.

Countdowns allows you to determine the exact time left until an event (hence the name.) There is nothing magical about this iPhone app, but if you're one of those people who are curious about how many minutes are left 'til Christmas, then this apps for you. Each event can have an associated picture, geotag, or song from your iPod. With Countdowns, you get a good deal of editing power, along with the ability to export or sync.

You'd think that this app was a complete waste of time, but it's not. These pictures are so well made that it's worth the dollar. And I know what you're thinking, "Oh greaaat, I can find these online for free on Google." You may be right, but you won't find as many, and they won't be nicely and neatly organized (not to mention quick to access.) The developer will also update with 10 new images every week. The great thing about this app is that you will be able to entertain all crowds with it. Whether it's your girlfriend, baby brother, or Russian grandparents that don't speak English, everyone gets a kick out of Freakish Hybrid Animals.
