Today's iPhone app reviews are all about keeping you in the know. Cannabis helps you find your nearest medical marijuana shop. Priceless Picks by MasterCard lets you view and share locations people geotag as "priceless". Traffic Tweet, as the name suggests, allows you to easily share a traffic condition via Twitter. iMetal, an amazing little app, turns your iPhone into a metal detector (although I wouldn't say it's ready to be used by airport security.)

Yes, it's true, there are legal medical marijuana stores in America (and not just Silas and Doug's shop in Aggrestic). This application helps you to locate the nearest legal medical cannabis collectives, cooperatives, doctors, clinics, attorneys, organizations, and other patient services in states that have passed medical marijuana legislation. In other words, if you get legitimate perscriptions for medical marijuana, then you need this app. Kinda of surprising it made it through the Apple approval process, isn't it? See app video if interested.

This is one of those corporate apps probably made just to spread the image of the brand being "in touch with modern tech." MasterCard, the credit card company famous for their "Priceless" line of commercials (and for sucking you dry with interest rates) has made a pretty cool iPhone application. It allows you to share places, activities, and deals by tagging them as "Priceless" on the map (hence the name). You'll find all sorts of things tagged in the app – not just restaurants or bars. The design just looks cool too.

What a brilliant idea – use Twitter to share traffic updates. Sure, traffic information is easy to get nowadays…we even have a native traffic option on our iPhones (in Maps). But who really wants to go scrolling around for a while to get to the part of the road you're interested in? Simply open up TrafficTweet and view the latest traffic accidents, lane closures, and other traffic alerts. How many times have you been stuck in traffic and wanted to tell someone to avoid taking the 95 or something? Well, instead of calling them, you can inform all your friends just by tapping a button and automatically tweeting the traffic. It's a great idea and a highly useful iPhone application for commuters.

As you've probably heard, one of the features of the new iPhone 3GS is it's built in magnetometer, which allows the phone to function as a compass (physics lesson: the compass works because of Earth's magnetism.) While Apple's purpose for including a magnetometer is simply to allow a compass app and a new feature in Maps that shows which way you're facing, third party developers like Gary Fung can go ahead and do whatever they'd like with the magnetometer. So here we have iMetal, an app that uses the magnetometer to turn your iPhone into a metal detector. It measures the surrounding magnetic field, and when a metal object is near, the app will alert.
Note: iPhone 3GS Only.
