Holy crap, that didn't take long…
The App Store needed only nine months to sell their one billionth app; six months later, they've just doubled that amount. In a press release, the House of Jobs trumpeted that mind-boggling figure alongside some equally impressive stats: 85,000 apps* available to more than 50 million iPhone and iPod customers worldwide, thanks to the hard work of over 125,000 code monkeys in their Developer Program.
Steve Jobs himself called the download amount "staggering…The App Store has reinvented what you can do with a mobile handheld device, and our users are clearly loving it."
Can you say "exponential growth," boys and girls?
