On the heels of yesterday's now-you-see-it, now-you-don't European press release, TomTom has officially announced US pricing for their iPhone Car Kit. The unit — still due for an October '09 drop — will have an MSRP of US$119.95.
This time around, TomTom clearly indicates that the associated iPhone app is NOT included with the dock — that'll set you back another C-note. So for about US$220.00, it's hard to grok what advantages this system has over a dedicated car GPS, unless you're a "THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE!!!" all-inclusive gadgeteer — y'know, the type who equates universal remote controls with the Second Coming. Remember: putting all your eggs in one basket is really dependent upon the strength and robustness of the basket.
Note: TomTom kit will have GPS receiver to boost accuracy. IF you care just for the mount, you can get those for under $40.
