Taiwan Economic News is quoting "industry sources" who claim that several local component makers will be contributing to upcoming Apple Tablet PC, which is scheduled for a February 2010 release.
"DynaPack International Technology Corp. has been exclusively contracted to supply up to 300,000 units of long lasting battery packs a month…Wanshih Electronic Co., Ltd., a leading supplier of PC mini coaxial cables in Taiwan, is expected to absorb around 70% of Apple`s orders for mini coaxial cables for the tablet PCs…Mag. Layers Scientific-Technics Co., Ltd. and Wintek Corp. will supply power chokes and touch panels, respectively…"
The "iTablet" will purported have a 9.6 inch screen, finger-touch function, built-in HSPDA (high speed download packet access) module, and a P.A. SEMI processor chip. It will also carry an MSRP of US$7-999.00, which doesn't exactly scream "Kindle killer" to us.
Take with the usual football-sized grain of salt.
