Twitter is one of the new and revolutionary pieces of social networking for the Internet.  It is a way to follow large groups of people and to share new information with them or even advertise your own services.  As there can only be 140 characters in a "tweet," they tend to be rather succinct – kinda like reading just a headline in the paper, at times.

But in the past months, Twitter has found itself useful in getting information out regarding the Iranian election as well as communication between different groups of people, or even within single groups.

These apps will help you keep in touch with your "tweeps" on the go!

Tweetdeck for iPhone – Free

Familiar with Tweetdeck for your desktop or laptop computers?  This is the same app, only for your iPhone. You can sync this app with your free (optional) Tweetdeck account and have the same selection of tweets to view. You can create groups of people to follow, manage multiple Twitter accounts, or share photos using TwitPic and YFrog.

The newest update allows you to share videos from your 3GS and to upload those videos in the background.  Facebook support is one of the big updates in this version as Tweetdeck for your computer allows you to update both your Facebook status as well as send a tweet at the same time.

Twitterrific – Free/$3.99

Twitterrific is another Twitter client that also allows you to manage multiple accounts, to search Twitter and Twitter trends, as well as to filter your incoming tweets for better manageability. There is a Premium version for $3.99 but the only difference between the two is the premium version has no advertising.

It has a built-in browser to view links sent in tweets so you don't have to exit the app to view them.  It also has in-app email support as of this newest version which could be extremely useful if you have friends who don't tweet who you'd like to share tweet information with.

Tweetie 2 is the second version of the popular Twitter client, Tweetie.  This version has been rewritten and includes full landscape support, customization of your own image host, in-app email integration and more. It also allows you to link your Twitter contacts to your iPhone addressbook and saves your searches by syncing with Twitter.com.

Simply Tweet Twitter with Push Notifications – $4.99

The major advantage of SimplyTweet over the other apps is the Push notification support for replies and direct messages.  If Twitter is a large part of your life, this may be just the feature that will push you over into purchasing SimplyTweet.
