When it comes to good design, Apple knows its stuff. The iPhone was able to single-handily change the mobile industry and also how we look at phones. The superb design of the iPhone has inspired many artists out there to come up with their own cellphone concepts that blur the line between design and functionality. Here is the list of some of the most stunning cellphone concepts.
The Nokia Unik by designer Clement Logereau is made of customizable small squares, which can be played around to create new forms. Customization is the key here as one gets the chance to choose between colors and materials.
Android is here to stay and its only a matter of time before Alienware and Dell release their own Android device. However till then we can drool at the Alienware Android Phone Concept. The flexibility of Android teamed up with the gaming features of Alienware will be a product to watch out for.
Designer Juan Carlos Garzon takes a minimalist approach with his transparent Nokia cellphone concept. The idea is to have a touchscreen and a transparent display.
Jung Dae Hoon decided to do away with the contemporary with the “Dial”. The retro design approach works as it works for a great accessory for the rich. To dial you make use of the projected beam.
Typing long messages can be irritating hence the Mimeo interactive cellphone looks like the perfect solution. Sam James Chu’s concept is brilliant as to dial or send a text you need to write it down on a surface.
ZTE’s concept phone revolutionizes the flip phone concept and we approve. Instead of a traditional flip phone, the fan phone opens like a traditional hand fan and looks super cool.
Soul mates can express their love via the Ying and Yang cellphones. A concept by Joongho Choi, the two pieces can be joined together to act like a touchscreen of a mobile phone.
The “Cobalto” concept looks straight out of a Sci-fi film and we love the transparent approach. The shape reminds us of the Apple Mighty Mouse as well.
The NAK phone aka the No Design Phone has to be one the craziest concepts out there. The idea is to design your own phone so that every piece is unique.
This Fujitsu Concept Phone almost looks like a magnifying glass but there is something extremely cool about the circular display.
The Mobile Script phone offers two touchscreens and one of them can slide out to view multimedia files.
The “Nokia Facet” from Knot Design brings a new approach to touchscreen phones as it features facets that hide the tactile keypad.
The LG Helix when not being used as cellphone also moonlights as a fashion accessory by transforming into a bangle!
Wilson Song’s, the Samsung WM is yet another concept that gets the tech kingdom and the fashion police closer. It is a watch and a mobile phone combined and looks like a remote control.
Chemistry nerds will love the O2 Molecular Concept Cellphone, which is a cell made of cells and hence makes Science cool!
The design concept below is from Synaptics and it’s called Fuse. The idea behind this concept is that the device is pressure-sensitive so you can perform some of the controls by squeezing the phone itself
Cellphone concepts can be quite fascinating but not all are impressed. Check out this hilarious spoof on a concept cellphone.
