Google is making life so much easier for shopaholics during these holidays. The “Favorite Places on Google” brings a mobile approach to everyone’s favorite pastime, window shopping.
The enterprising folks over at Google have send window decals to over 100,000 local businesses in the U.S. The windows have been equipped with a unique bar code, known as a QR code that can be scanned with a number of mobile devices including Android-powered phones, BlackBerry and our favorite iPhone. The stores also have the distinction of being most sought out and researched on Google.com and Google Maps, so deeming them as popular places is an understatement.
For scanning the codes one requires a camera based mobile phone and an app that reads QR posts like Barcode Scanner app for DROID or QuickMark for iPhone. As soon as one scans a window decal they will be to read reviews, know about promotions and even get store coupons! See the video below for all the action.
