At what point do all the rumors and hearsay concerning the "iTablet" reach critical mass? This may be it:
According to the "Digital Daily" column at All Things Digital, Apple is planning a big media event — and, it may be inferred, major product announcement — for the end of January. Specifically, Wednesday the 27th (not, as hinted previously, Tuesday the 26th — nice antidote for the mid-week slump, Uncle Steve!). The event is expected to be held at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco, a regular stop for House of Jobs press blasts (like last September's ‚ÄúIt‚Äôs Only Rock and Roll‚Äù iPod hoo-ha — another Wednesday-not-Tuesday event, by the bye…)
And to throw another fuel rod into the heart of the reactor, French site Mac4ever (by way of Google Translate) hints that the end of January will also see the release of a beta/SDK of iPhone OS 4 — one of whose key features is the ability to code apps to different screen resolutions. This could mean a tablet-sized screen. It could also mean a higher-def iPhone screen.
But it definitely means that the blogosphere will be on pins and needles for the next couple of weeks…
