Boy Genius Report claims to have the inside scoop on iPhone OS 4.0, which is still a strong candidate for being part of Apple's big January 27th media event. Here's what's promised:
- Multi-touch gestures OS-wide. Thought process being, what's good for the iPhone is good for the iTablet. (We're guessing BGR didn't get the "iPad" memo…)
- “A few new ways” to run applications in the background — yeah, multitasking. We said it.
- The update won't work on anything older than a 3G or 3GS. The good news is, it will “put [iPhones] ahead in the smartphone market because it will make them more like full-fledged computers.”
- Some kind of "brand new syncing ability for the contacts and calendar applications" is also hinted at; nothing more specific.
If even half of this is true, it pretty much guarantees iPhone dominance for years to come, and the Droids and Crackberries out there are gonna have to jump to Warp Factor Four to catch up.
