A help-wanted ad on Apple's website suggests the company wants to bring the iPhone OS to devices above and beyond the soon-to-be-released iPad.
The listing for "Engineering Manager (Platform Bring-Up)" expects the job candidate to "lead a team focused on bring-up of iPhone OS on new platforms. The team is responsible for low level platform architecture, firmware, core drivers and bring-up of new hardware platforms. The team consists of talented engineers with experience in hardware, firmware, IOKit drivers, security and platform architecture."
So what platforms are we talking about here? Computerworld theorizes that a retooled AppleTV — smaller, cheaper, and with access to all those iPhone apps — is a likely candidate, as would be MacBooks at significant discounts.
One thing the job listing DOESN'T mention is how the candidate should react to Uncle Steve's patented "Reality Distortion Field."
