Unless you're willing to shell out for a dedicated audio or data line between your iPhone/iPod and you car stereo, the only option left for MP3 playback on the road is an FM transmitter.  Most of which, let's face it, bite the big one.

Electronics maker Belkin thinks they've solved that problem.  Their TuneCast Auto Live (US$79.99) takes a basic FM auto-radio transmitter, then adds their "ClearScan LIVE" iPhone App to actually control said transmitter.  Belkin promises the unit will:

  • Quickly find the best FM station with the help of your iPhone GPS system and location-based user feedback.
  • Conveniently recommends the best FM frequencies based on your GPS coordinates.
  • Control your FM transmission easily from your iPhone screen.

The unit is currently available for sale in North America, with Europe/Asia/Australia coming online by spring 2010.
