Apple has purchased Siri, a developer of mobile assistant Apps. For Apple, this means the use of the voice recognition technology by Nuance, which is used in one of iSmashphone's favorites, Siri Assistant.
Users can speak commands and Siri will pull up relevant local information. For example, asking Siri for the "best pizza place in town" will do a search for pizza places in your area, and the software is pretty accurate.
Apple's speech recognition, however, has been lagging behind. This is especially evident when compared to similar software used by Google.
Looks like Apple, not to be outdone in the world of smartphone OSes, is stepping up the game. Don't you just love how competition drives everyone to try a little harder? If it means a better user experience? Heck yes!
