There is a new hacker in town folks, and given his latest announcement, it will be only a matter of time before the iPhone community welcomes him with open arms. Hacker Comex is basking in the glory by showing off his new userland jailbreak called Spirit. Similar to JailbreakMe.com, this one too requires an iPhone user to visit a website on Safari and then give permission to jailbreak. What really piques our interest is that this nifty jailbreak may just work for iPad too. Let the mind games begin!

OK….WTF???? Is it me that is smoking something or the writers of this story? I ask that, and I am asking because, I seem to be missing something when I watch this video.
Look, it’s an Ipod not an Iphone in the VIDEO, Yes??? If this jailbreak works and is supposed to be an untethered jailbreak for a 3.1.3 Iphone running 05.11.07 Baseband, why not show a before and after video powering up, down and up again?

Look. it HAS to be an iPod touch, for it to be proven its the new bootrom. otherwise, if it was an iPhone, he could just have an old bootrom one and it wouldnt be anything new.

Hey I’m a hacker that goes by the name of sentex I will be relasing a jb/unlock of 3.1.3 new and old bootrom in 3 days it may work for the ipad as well too many ppl are not able to use there iPhone 3g 3gs and 2g as well as the iPods out there like they want and I’m tired of the other hackers holding them hostage without a good reason I’ve been working on this when 3.1.3 came out I used to be on the other side I know what it’s like. 3 days

Everybody settle down. You’re obviously not going to get a reliable jailbreak from anyone but George Hotz or the Dev Team. The new jailbreak will not be coming out until after the release of Apple’s new firmware- any time before that and they’d simply be washing their hard work down the toilet. However, after the release of 4.0, you may not even want to jailbreak any more due to the significant changes like being able to change and modify your background.
All I’m saying is don’t expect a jailbreak until around late June.

Um how do we know this isn’t 3.1.2??? This video proves nothing. Just because he uses voice control doesn’t mean that itnisnt 3.1.2. I’m gonna put out a video like this guy and say it’s the new jailbreak without proving I’m on a 3.1.3 MC model iPhone like this guy does. And. wow…looks like theres a lot of people out there with the same problem as me….a totally useless 3Gs because of accidental update. Hope a jailbreak comes out sooner than June….hangout out for the cool i-phone i use to have. Thanks to those that are developing this jailbreak.
How about for 3GS stuck in emergency mode (unactivated)? This jailbreak is no better than what GeoHot can do.
thats because with an iPhone 3gs it could be tethered or untethered, but all 3rd gen ipod touches are tethered first he proved it was a 3rd gen by showing the voice control earlier model ipods dont have that next he showed it was jailbroke then powered off and on to show its still jailbroke without having to plug it up and run anything.
I like everyone else caught up in this frenzy of jailbreaking need to be patient. The JB, if any, will be released when good and ready. No amount of shouting and screaming will make it happen sooner. Follow the proper blogs…..

If a true jailbreak for the iPhone 3GS on 3.1.3 (new bootloader) is available, then it should be released. Not releasing it because “Apple will close the exploit” is pure hogwash. The new OS 3.2 or 4.0 will quickly be patched with v.x.1 anyway and once again the DevTeam or Jailbreakers will have to come up with another patch of their own to fix it. To think releasing this jailbreak will ruin it for all future versions is ridiculous. I guarantee you even if they wait for the new iPhone or version whatever, we’ll be in the same situation as soon as Apple puts out x.x.1 or whatever patch comes out.

not everyone updates “everytime they come out with a new firmware”. more than 60 percent of us buy new iDevices with that firmware already on it, or get fucked over by a crash and get restored on the new firmware. stfu dumbass.

There is NO unlock before WWDC (when 4.0 goes public) and NO jailbreak from dev team. Comex’s Spirit may come out this Friday (speculation from his tweets)
Especially for all users stuck on 3.1.3 – explore whatever options you have till the waiting period such as official activation and unlock – and do not fall for SCAMS!

i think this video is about a JB not an unlock…so the baseband is unnecessary for this case…its just about an jailbreak…and the ipod touch 3g displayed in the video is actually, like the iphone 3gs 3.1.3 mc modell, not jailbreakable…copy that?

i have iphone 3g 3.1.3 baseband 05.12.01 & i jailbreak it with redsn0w 0.9.4, and it is activated & i can use cydia and everything (of-course not the carrier unlock)
SO. wat is the spirit really do more than what i did…
Also i noticed that: i must use spirit with an activated iphone with no emergency screen… so whats the difference… please anyone tell me….

used spirt on 3gs for jailbreak…so easy and perfect doesn’t run on windows 7 so run in win 95 mode.

hello everybody i just jailbreaked my ipod touch 3G 3.1.3 7E18 and yes my ipod is a MC model, and yes it works great.
i can also say that the Spirit Application work’s perfectly on windows 7 for a 3gs running the latest 3.1.3 firmware, and its also a MC model with baseband 05.12.01 worked brill !!! And it also work’s on the 3.1.2 firmware so if you wanna keep your unlock stick with 312 if your already unlocked (simfree) go for the 313. run it as admin and enjoy…
do you mean 3gs iphone version3.1.3 MC model can be JB now? can you tell me how to do it?
