Ever since Stephen Colbert whipped out his iPad from underneath his jacket at the Grammies, the question has raged: just how DO you carry Apple’s new toy on your person? Our graphic below offers some possibilities, both practical and frivolous. (Although we know at least a couple of fashion models who would TOTALLY rock the “iPad garter…”)
My Ride,” SoundMan Car Audio in sunny California have already
shoehorned an iPad into the dash of a Toyota Tacoma, along with a big
honkin’ audio rig to make those MP3′s just scream. ‘Course,
we’re guessing this isn’t the 3G version, so unless you’re parked right
outside a Starbucks, any kind of Web access is kinda iffy. [Engadget]
Meanwhile, Scottevest
seems to have taken a cue from our graphic, and now advertise that many
of their jackets and TravelVests are now “iPad compatible.” And with
their “unique NoBulge‚Ñ¢ stealth design,” you’re the only one who has to
know what you’re packing. CEO Scott Jordan explains it all in the above
video.
As for the cargo-pants idea…well, we
told you back in February that the Oh!No!Doom Collective had that
one covered.

Speaking of designers with creatively warped imaginations, Dominic
Wilcox offers this “iPad
simplification” on his visual blog, “transform[ing] the whizzbang
iPad into a simple practical object that may be
useful around the home…Maybe one day we will look back and think ‚Äòwhat
exactly did we do before
the iPad?‚Äô or maybe we‚Äôll think ‚ÄòWell, it made a stylish bookend‚Äô.”
(Or we just propped
it on our cat…)
Finally, Mark Dury –
reportedly inspired by a handgun-spotting
tutorial (or maybe accepting the gauntlet thrown down by
Scottevest?) offers his own set of iPad-spotting tips.
Point is, people are being challenged — even in a comedic way — to figure out how to manage this newer, larger iDevice. And amidst the frippery and tomfoolery, some actually — y’know — USEFUL products may yet emerge.

Thanks for the fashion collection!
That’s the fashion I need. A all-in-one developer bag for iPhone, iPad, Android phones and Tablets would be nice!
