Pioneer has goosed two of its in-car navigation systems (AVIC-Z120BT and AVIC-X920BT) to take advantage of Pandora streaming radio, via the free Pandora Link iPhone app. By connecting your iPhone to the system via a USB cable, the familiar Pandora interface now appears on the navigation screen. This could be a good alternative to anyone who doesn't want to cough up the extra scratch for a Sirius/XM satellite radio subscription.
Ford will be offering a similar system in 2011 Fiestas; the major difference is that their technology is Blackberry/Android-oriented, and takes advantage of BlueTooth. (And as one commenter to the original story noted, he can already stream Pandora in his Fiesta through the 'Tooth.)
The AVIC-X920BT is currently available at an MSRP of US$1,099; if you have your heart set on the AVIC-Z120BT, you'll have to wait until June and cough up another five hundred bucks in the process.
