Remember the scenes in Spielberg's MINORITY REPORT where Tom Cruise stood in front of a holographic screen of random data and moved/organized it with his hands as if it were physical objects?
Well, the guy who designed that futuristic interface for the movie didn't stop there — he made it real. And yesterday at TED (http://www.ted.com/talks/john_underkoffler_drive_3d_data_with_a_gesture.html), John Underkoffler gave a fifteen-minute live demonstration of the UI, which you can watch above. Even with the data gloves, this ain't no VR5 or JOHNNY MNEMONIC: It's real. And it's cool.
