The Hulu Pus app dropped today for the iPad and iPhone offering a limited preview of the coming new service.
Yes, we are anxiously waiting for our invitation, thank you. Dammit HULU!! You hear us!?!
Like other apps you get a low quality version in 3G as opposed to a higher def version on Wi-Fi. Some programs just did not want to play at all on 3G, but after several attempts, including turning the Wi-Fi on then off again, the programs played in 3G. It may have more to do with AT&T, but really who can say? It gave us an error message with each hiccup. YMMV
The interface is basically the same as what you get with the much-lauded ABC app, i.e. there's really not much new here. It mostly works and that's the important thing.
There are full length programs from Hulu's library available. as well as some full movies, and a lot of excerpts from programs.
Anyway, as previously reported Hulu will offer a $9.99/month premium service, hence the 'plus', as well as iPhone and iPad apps that will bring the previously Flash only, Jscript-intensive interface to the iDevices of Steve Jobs.
Hulu is very popular and this could well be a success. We've heard rumors that Apple is moving in the same direction themselves with iTunes. Everyone wants a piece of the pie that cable TV own right now.
Will it be successful? Probably. Will we pony up for it? Probably not. Maybe, Jury's out. Don't pressure us!
