TechCrunch Europe is reporting that an English iPhone 4 purchaser was informed by cell carrier Orange UK that his handset delivery would be delayed. Interestingly, the excuse he was given was the reception problems caused by the i4's new antenna-in-edge-bezel design.
That's the same reception problem that's been plaguing US customers since the phone hit the retail channels earlier this week. The same problem that Apple in general — and Uncle Steve in particular — have been downplaying with "Well, don't hold it like that, then" or "Put it in a case." (Or you can utilize the solution WE found…) At the same time, Apple is promising an iOS4 update next week that may solve the problem.
Meanwhile, the customer got a ¬£30 credit for his troubles — and THEN was subsequently contacted by Apple and told "Whoops, we're actually sold out — it's not the antenna problem that's delaying your order!"
Hmm…
