A welter of wall wart chargers for your handheld devices may be a thing of the past, thanks to the Wireless Power Consortium. They just released the finalized version of their QI low-power standard for wireless device charging. If and when this goes into effect, it means that any QI-compliant charger can juice up a similarly QI-compliant device inductively. (In other words, it's the Palm Pre's Touchstone charger base made available to the world!)
No word yet on when the first "Inductive Charging Causes Cancer!" scare story rears its ugly head…
