AT&T, who once bragged of "more bars in more places" is now, in essence, saying "Yeah, our 3G network sucks, but hey — free Wi-Fi, anyone?"
On the heels this past May's successful 802.11'ing of New York City's Times Square area, the Death Star will next bring the "Wi-Fi Getover Tour" to Charlotte, North Carolina. AT&T customers from South Brevard Street (near the NASCAR Hall of Fame Plaza) to East Trade Street, and riders of the Lynx light rail, can now do all the things they're SUPPOSED to do with AT&T.
The carrier also promises similar coverage will be coming to Chicago in a couple of weeks; exact coverage area and deployment date are unknown at this time.
