The latest entry in the magazine app raced is Fortune Magazine, dropping today in the App Store.
Like the Time Magazine app before it, it offers you a free sample issue. Fortune lets you preview an issue then purchase it via in app purchase.
The fact that it looks exactly like the Time magazine app is no surprise, Time Inc., owns Fortune. Why mess with success? It is a simple basic formula that works well
The app is polished and professional but nothing spectacular. It won‚Äôt be giving Popular Mechanics any real competition app-wise. It does try to take a page out of the aforementioned‚Äôs play book by including hotspots and videos in the app, to mixed success. The hotspots work well, but we had trouble getting video to play in the sample issue on our iPad 3G. We aren‚Äôt attempting to diagnose why, it either just works or it does not. Hopefully, they‚Äôll get the bugs worked out.
