I’ll Pretend You Didn’t Say That: Apple Squashes Consumer Reports Discussions

It's a hissy fit worthy of Eric Cartman's infamous "Screw you guys, I'm going home!"

Yesterday, we reported that Consumer Reports decided to un-recommend the iPhone 4 (after their research team confirmed the antenna-bezel "death grip" issue — duplicating, it should be added, the efforts of the tech blogosphere!).  Apple's response?  They've elected to patrol their support forums and nuke any threads that dare to utter the — for lack of a better term — "CR-word."

TUAW has confirmed that performing Google searches for CR threads on the Apple forums inevitably hits a brick wall, in the form of the message "Error: you do not have permission to view the requested forum or category."

Ironic comparisons to Apple's own "1984" Macintosh advert may be inferred.
