Tis the season of chargers, tra la la ‚Ķ.. Apologies for breaking into my own impromptu version of a season greeting but these days even chargers are making headlines. Both AT&T and Apple launched their own chargers which for some reason is creating a lot of buzz, making me wonder that Apple really doesn’t need a publicist since whatever they do is news. But i digress and lets get back to the chargers.
AT&T ZERO Charger is pretty eco-friendly as it is designed to shut itself off when its charged a mobile phone. The wall-based charger comes with a a single charging cable. Where as the Apple Battery Charger kit comes with a sleek charger and six high-performance AA NiMH batteries which can power various Apple accessories like the Mighty Mouse. The former is selling for $18.00 and the latter for $29.00.

Nice idea in theory but …
I purchased one to test out for my website. The bottom line is the factory chargers are every bit as energy efficient. Do they draw power sitting on standby? Yes, however the amount that they are pulling is so small it isn’t worth going out to buy one. If you need a second charger for work, lost it, or broke yours this is a great idea.
