We got news of this via an email from the good folks over at iXP1.
Anyone who has an iPad knows of the issues of charging it, outside of plugging it into the wall; there's just not a good solution.
Plugging an iPad into a USB port, often results in syncing only, the magical device requires more energy than a typical USB port provides. Even if it does charge it will be much slower compared to an AC outlet.
XP1 offers a solution in their iXP1-500 USB adapter. The company says all you have to do is attach the adapter to your existing Apple charge/sync cable and your iPad will charge from your computer's USB port.
Apparently the iXP1-500 regulates power in a way that facilitates charging via any USB connection. Okay.
