Robot Roll Call: An Android-Powered BallBot

Robots come in all shapes — and yes, like the classic fat joke, "round" is a shape.  Take the Smart Ball from Gearbox, a diminutive robot inside a plastic ball that's controlled by your Android phone via Bluetooth.  More specifically, it's the phone's accelerometer that does the controlling, changing direction and/or speed via a twist of the wrist.

The Smart Balls are expected to run around US$25.00 when they hit the market, and Gearbox is readying a raft of support apps and games.
