As many wait for Apple's five year exclusivity deal with AT&T to end, many are speculating that Verizon will soon start selling a CDMA iPhone 4.
Daring Fireball paints a hypothetical situation in which Verizon's iPhone 4 is introduced in January 2011, at CES. That's a mere five months away. If Apple wants the handset to be available in time for early next year, a few things must be happening by now. As Daring Fireball points out, while the phone isn't in production yet and isn't yet at the point of device verification testing (DVT) status (which he points out is the point in development the iPhone Gizmodo picked up was at), some are saying that it's reached the engineering verification test (EVT). EVT, according to Daring Fireball is just one step below DVT, with the next being mass production.
In short, it's right where it should be at this point for an early 2011 release.
