Verizon has confirmed that the Droid 2 will go on pre-sale tomorrow (Wednesday, August 11), with an in-store guarantee for the next day. As expected, the D2 can be had for US$200.00, after rebate, with a two-year contract (and if your current contract expires by New Year's Eve 2010, you can upgrade with no penalties). The new Droid will come with Android 2.2, a mobile hotspot option (an additional US$20.00/month), Flash 10, a new QWERTY keyboard, Swype, 5 megapixel camera, and 8 gigs of memory (plus another 8 via microSD card.)
BUT WAIT! THERE'S MORE! The V's also confirmed the long-rumored STAR WARS/R2-D2-themed Droid 2 will become a real-life nerdgasm come September.
Both phones join a crowded Verizon Android roster that includes the original Moto Droid and Droid X, the HTC Droid Incredible, and the LG Ally. And we STILL don't know what'll happen to any or all of those phones' sales if/when the CDMA version of the iPhone strolls in…
