Piracy runs rampant across all forms of media: movies, games, books, computer software and Apps. Website App Advice had a chance to talk to Dissident, founder of Apptrackr, the biggest community of pirated iPhone Apps and asked him about some of their numbers.
Broken down, the numbers are rather high. While only 10 percent of iDevices are jailbroken (according to Cydia creator Saurik), 40 percent of those used for pirating software. That's right, nearly half of jailbroken phones are being used for pirated software. That amounts to about 4 percent of all iOS users overall.
It may not sound like a lot, but the numbers are unfortunate when you consider the more noble uses for jailbreak, such as customizing the user experience.
