We all know the current Apple logo. That familiar shape with a single leaf and a bite taken out of it.
The trademark has been filed for the logo, but now we can see that part of the trademark filing mentions. Seems like a simple update to the previous trademark:
Personal and social services rendered by others to meet the needs of individuals, namely, online social networking and introduction services; online social networking services, namely, facilitating social interaction among individuals, social introductions, and for finding persons with particular hobbies, interests and backgrounds; providing a social networking website; security services for the protection of property, namely, monitoring of computerized data for security purposes
It's interesting that it mentions the social networking aspect. As we know, Apple recently launched their Ping service as well as Game Center. These services are both used for "online social networking and introduction services."
It definitely seems that Apple is taking their push for social networking seriously. While Ping may have originally seemed like Apple testing the waters, we can now see that social networking has become enough of a priority for them to add as part of their Goods and Services part of their trademark.
This may show that unlike Apple TV, the Cupertino-based company sees social networking as a lot more than a hobby.
