VLC Media Player Available for iPad, But We Still Want FLV Playback

VLC Media Player is an open source multimedia player that the developer says will support “nearly all” codecs. It even claims to “play back the file or media if it is damaged.” Adding that “missing or broken pieces are no stop to VLC.”

We are still checking out different video files, and many will be happy to know that it supports DIVX. The downside is that we had hoped to finally be able to import FLV files directly to the iPad for viewing, but it didn’t happen. However, it does make the iPad’s playback options far more robust than they are out of the box. We will continue to hope and cross our fingers for something on the App Store that will make this a reality.

However, those of you willing to spend a few extra bucks can always convert FLV to MP4 for iPad playback following this simple tutorial: Here

The App is available for free on the App Store.
