There are a lot of Apps out there made for buying and selling cars, but Edmunds is a well-recognized name in the category. Their car finder App brings with it what we would expect from the name, and it does it well by taking the website’s search features and turning it into one useful App.
Currently, the App doesn’t offer car reviews, but Edmunds says they are working on it, which will add a great new feature for those looking to buy cars. After all, it’s always nice to hear what people have to say about the car you are planning on spending several thousands on.
When you first start the App it will ask you if it’s okay to use your location. Because we are looking for a car in our area, it only makes sense to turn this function on to make searches easier. You are also able to set the maximum distance from your location that you would like to search. For instance, if you want cars that are up to 50 miles away, you can do that. For many who live in smaller towns, this is useful as there are many times when dealerships in larger cities that are several miles away have the best prices.
The App is broken into three sections: Research, Inventory and Favorites. Research lets you look around and find out what the car you are looking at is valued at, then you can can look up Inventory to find out what local dealers have the car priced at and where you can find it. After that, it’s about negotiating a price with the dealer based on what you know the car should be valued at. Cars you are interested in can be added to your Favorites for later.
It’s very easy to use, and the interface is one of the most straightforward we’ve seen. It is perfect for a more casual iPhone user who may not be as adept with swiping, pinching and typing on the little screen. That said, simple is simple and that means that even those who use their iPhones for everything will find the App enjoyable because of its ease of use. That simplicity also makes it easy to run on your device, it won’t bog down your device.
You know, there really isn’t much bad to say about this App. They are planning on adding reviews. There is nothing useless, because the App isn’t bloated with features you won’t use.
There isn’t much to dislike about this App. It’s efficient, it isn’t bloated. It cuts out the stuff a car shopper doesn’t need, such as car news. It is very easy to use, and it does its job well. It’s free, but ad supported. We suppose that it wouldn’t be a bad deal to pay a buck or two and have it without ads, but that’s just because it’s a good App.
Five out of Five EXCELLENT!
