No need for a sad iPhone
When jailbreaking your iOS device, one of the most important things to do is to backup your data before trying to run any sort of jailbreak. This is because you don't want to lose any important information if something goes awry.
We are going to take a quick look at a great way to keep that data handy. Of course, we hope you never have to use it during a jailbreak, but it's always better to be safe than sorry.
A little note: The software below turns your iOS backups into files that can be used in OS X, from 10.5 and up. It simply allows you to read the SQLite files that the iPhone backup in iTunes creates.
First, you will need to download Menial's Base App there are a few limitations to the free trial version, but you should fare just fine.
You will keep those files in a safe place, just in case something should go wrong with your device. Now, you will want iPhone Explorer, which is a free App that turns your iPhone into a mountable disc on your computer.
With this App you can open your iPhone when plugged into the computer and take a look at all the files included. With this App you can load the data back onto your device. Again, we hope you never have to use this, but it's good to back up all data, no matter how you plan on using your devices.
