The Dev Team/geohot smackdown over bragging rights to jailbreaking iOS 4.1 just got leapfrogged by a self-described "Neurosurgeon & iPhone Baseband hacker."
Sherif Hashim announced on Twitter that he has busted not one, but two key basebands (05.14.02 and 2.10.04) — which means he can unlock not only iOS 4.1, but the yet-to-be-released iOS 4.2. The key Tweets are:
Again, these exploits probably won't hit the streets until 4.2 does. On the other hand, it may give home jailbreakers pause, especially those contemplating having a go with geohot's limera1n, which breaks but does not unlock.
In any event, the hacking community has been put on notice: there's a (wait for it!) new "Sherif" in town.

if geohot can jailbreak… geohot can unlock also… be just thankful to geohot for he provides the first unlock to ios4.1… as for sherif, why hold back in releasing your jailbreak or unlock and further wait for 4.2… whats the purpose of holding back, it is tantamount to not doing at any jailbreak or unlock… i respect all the jailbreakers/unlockers of iphone, because they make the lives of people with iphones comfortable and enjoyable… jailbreakers/unlockers gives us the sense of freedom to do what we want to do with our iphones.. thats i have to be thankful to jailbreakers/unlockers…
i didnt get it bro …why would we have to wait if you already found an key for bb ???why just dont you release it so we (ppl who accidentally updated our devices or came with it)enjoy by an brand new iphone ..its killing me that i have an iphone 4 g and its not usable …pls pls pls feel it and help us //////
ƒ∞f they release it now apple is going to patch it before the release of 4.2. That’s it.
