The Dev Team will unleash their latest jailbreak — a new version of their GreenPois0n hack — in a matter of days, as per a Twitter message from member p0sixninja:

Things have progressed to the point where we don’t expect anymore roadblocks. ETA for greenpois0n is 10/10/10 at 10:10:10AM

(Welcome to the “10-Spot…”)  Keep in mind the “E” in “ETA” does stand for “estimated.”

The update appears to be centered around @pod2g‘s bootrom exploit that’s immune to software patches or even reflashed/patched bootroms, and will work on iPads, iPods, and iPhones.  So this will be not only the first iOS 4.1 jailbreak, it’s the one that Apple can’t fix without a major hardware overhaul.  Coupled with the fact that jailbreaking is now considered legal, there is now almost no reason NOT to jailbreak your iDevice.  (Don’t believe us?  Refresh your memory with our “Reasons to Jailbreak” article.)

Talk about opening the door and throwing away the key!  October 10th can’t come fast enough.
