Paul Otellni, Intel's CEO, had some things to say regarding the tablet computer market at a recent earnings conference call.
He first began by praising the iPad and saying, "I know the big question on everyone's mind is how Intel will respond to new computing categories where Intel currently has no presence, specifically tablets…We think tablets are exciting and fully welcome their arrival. Apple has done a wonderful job of reinventing the category…Will they impact PC sales? Sure, at the margine they probably will."
Then Mr. Otellni began to talk about Intel's plans to take on Apple's device, "We will use all of the assets at our disposal to win this segment."
He also noted that Intel is working on tablet products that should be available throughout the "coming months and quarters."
Then Otellni mentioned Intel's Atom chip, which will help power tablets with full multitasking capabilities.
That's right, the tablet market can no longer be ignored.
