Standard iPhone cases are easy to come by, as any quick Google search or trip to your local Best Buy will prove. There are a variety of styles available, but when it comes to the artwork on the case, the pickings can be a little slim. Why not design your own?
We went ahead and tried it, and it was pretty easy to create our own design. The folks at Zazzle offered to let us check out one of their cases for free.
We looked for an image we thought was looked cool.
Adjusted to fit and change background color to match:
Then we wait order…
Okay, okay. That was a very stupid mistake on our part. We just thought that it would have been a very awesome case. Lesson learned–no copyrighted material. It’s right here in their Acceptable Content Guidelines which we admittedly should have read. Oh well, it’s time to try again:
We decided to give it another shot. This time with something a little more custom. Note the yellow caution sign. It’s telling us that the image is being stretched larger than the original size. That is useful information for those who want to make sure that their image isn’t too pixelated. Since we aren’t stretching the image too much, we are okay with it. Still, it should be worth keeping in mind if you are designing a case for the iPad. Make sure you use nice, high-resolution images.
This is the case we came up with. It’s pretty cool, and it has my ugly mug on it, so I know that no one will steal my phone if I leave it out in the open.
The process was simple enough. Unfortunately, we made a silly mistake and are waiting for the redeem code to clear again before we can resubmit the order.
Luckily, we mess up so you don’t have to. We’ll keep you updated on the status and post a review of the case when it comes in.
Update: Things have been resolved and we resubmitted our order.
