Apple TV is getting interesting this year, and the recent iOS Remote App update definitely kicks it up a bit. With the recent hacks that we’ve been seeing, we’ve been hoping that Apple would up their game.

First, it was AirPlayer last week, which brought AirPlay to the Mac. Then, just a few days ago, we saw AirFlick.

It seems that Apple is trying to do some interesting things, though not it’s not quite as awesome. The latest update to their Remote App features AirPlay video support that will let users control iTunes ont heir computer (which is typical for the Apple Remote App) and stream content from their computer to Apple TV.

Below is the full list of updates according to the App Store listing:

What’s New in Version 2.1

• AirPlay video support to control iTunes on your computer to stream videos to an Apple TV
• Internet radio control to play thousands of internet radio streams in iTunes on your computer
• The ability to control iTunes on your computer to play Movies and TV shows that are rented from the iTunes Store
• Addresses issues connecting to an iTunes library or Apple TV
• Includes stability and performance improvements

We’ve played with the App and reviewed it before. It was also one of our favorite utilities of 2010.
