According to reports, Foxconn plants in Shenzhen, China have recently informed that they will be shipping the iPad 2 sometime within the next 100 days. According to the rumor, which comes from website Digitimes, the first round ofshipments will be about 400k to 600k units.
Digitimes' sources tell them that the tablet device will ship as soon as the end of February. Apparently, Apple intended to start mass-producing the iPad 2 in January, but due to firmware testing on the upcoming device, theschedule was pushed back a bit. Foxconn declined to comment on the rumor.
This scheduling is in line with Apple's usual "Update the iDevice once a year," business model. While we know the iPad 2 is happening, it's the features we are wondering most about.
